Mario Balotelli used as bait as Liverpool weigh up sensational swoop for Mario Gomez

LIVERPOOL are considering a swap deal for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez, according to reports in Italy.

Italian publication Mediaset believe the Anfield club will offer Mario Balotelli as bait in order to lure the German to England.
The 24-year-old's days at Anfield appear to be numbered after manager Brendan Rodgers left him out of the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour.

It is believed an initial deal would see the Italian return to his homeland on loan, with Gomez also joining Liverpool on a season-long loan deal.
The Germany international moved to Italy from Bayern Munich in 2013.
After a prolific four years at the Bundesliga giants he has struggled to settle in Italy.
