The Truth About Success

Image result for studyMany of us don't like hard times in life. We hope and long for times of ease, pleasure and comfort. We do not like pressure or tension. We hate pain and discomfort. This of course is understandable because of the suffering and distress induced by pain physically and psychologically. As mankind we naturally love to be comfortable. But for us to grow and develop as humans in a society, we must cease to see pain from the perspective of hurt and discomfort alone, we must begin to see pain from the dimension of transformation and purpose. There is a purpose for every pain as everypain carries within itself the capacity to transform and change you so as to grow you. No matter how much you hate it and can't handle it, pain is an essential aspect of human life.Individuals who have learnt and understood pain as a necessary part of human development, growth and progress have actually conquered the fear of pain. These are people who take very high risks without fear of pain and have subsequently conquered the world to a large extent. We call them the advanced nations of the world.
The very many people and nations that hate pain, resist pain or avoid pain ironically experience the worst kind of pain owing to poverty, lack, sicknesses, disease and premature deaths.Pain is defined as a highly unpleasant physical sensation or mental suffering caused by injury or illness. As humans, we suffer both physical and mental injuries; we do suffer at both dimensions. The unpleasant nature of pain however, isthe main reason many of us avoid it.But truth be told, as much as we try to avoid pain, we, every now and again, go through very painful experiences. We suffer both physical and mental injury quite frequently. But do you realise God deliberately allowsus go through pain in life because, as a matter of fact, the fear of pain, the fear of suffering, the desire to protect ourselves from unpleasant painful experiences is basically the driving force behind creativity?Imagine a world where everything is perfect, all you need and want is provided, safety and security guaranteed and you need not hustle or chase anything to survive, and you need not struggle for anything in life as all you need in life is provided for, I guarantee you, your brain will lose its ability to reason creatively. Mankind shall be relegated to the level of lower animals, mankind, though a superior being, will become indifferent to everything around. As we inhabit this earth and cohabit in this life, the presence and possibility of pain and suffering is what triggers our minds to come up with solutions and escape from pain and hurt. All man made things, all inventions are aimed at making life easier, better and more comfortable for mankind. Everything created by man is to reduce the suffering and hardship mankind goes through in this life. Creativity is simply the ability to come up with solutions to situations. It's about coming up with better ways of doing things and in this case, “better”, means less stressful ways of achieving greater results in life.We build houses to protect us and our properties from the possible pain caused by the elements of the sun, wind and rain if they hit us directly and even predators who will want to take away what's ours. We invent cars to make mobility and travel less stressful, we invent clothes forprotection, covering and comfort; we invent computers and phones to make contacts, communication and interactioneasier. Every profession, every course studied at the university is established toinvent and enhance quality solutions in various aspects of human endeavour, be it health care, engineering, agriculture, technology, you name it. The aim of everydiscipline is creativity, and the purpose ofcreativity is problem solving and solving a problem is basically taking away the distress, suffering, discomfort and pain caused by that problem. Therefore pain should not be looked at from the stand point of impact on man but from the stand point of purpose for man. That is the way you can actually make good use of your pain.Ladies and gentlemen we all go through pain and you may probably be going through one right now. A wrong reaction to your pain is self-pity. A wrong reaction to your pain is self-blame. A wrong reaction to your pain is blaming others. A wrong reaction to your pain is blaming the society. A wrong reaction to your painis blaming your past. A wrong reaction to your pain is fear. A wrong reaction to yourpain is panic. A wrong reaction to your pain is hopelessness. A wrong reaction to your pain is vengeance. A wrong reaction to your pain is giving up.When you go through pain, your pain has a message. Every pain has a message, instead of crying and complaining and wallowing in that pain, pay attention to the message. The pain of a headache is a message thatsomething is wrong in your body. The pain in your stomach is a message that something is not right in your tummy. When you feel these pains, you just don't keep languishing and lamenting and blaming, you take in the message and address what could be wrong in your body.Every pain carries a message, the message explains the purpose of the pain. Dear friend, what is the message of the pain you're experiencing right now?Dear friends, one of the most severe pains in this world is the pain of child birth. The pain of labour carries a message that it is time to bring forth a new life. It says it is time for a child to be born. Why is pain necessary in the bringing forth of a new child if I may ask? Can't child birth be painless? Must it come withso much pain? What exactly is the purpose of labour pain? I would tell you. The intensity of pain you feel and endure in creating or birthing anything will to a large extent determine how much value you'd attach or place on whatever you've brought forth.Whatever is delivered cheaply will be treated cheaply. I believe the primary purpose of labour pain is for mankind to attach the required value and worth to childbirth and procreation. When, especially mothers remember or think of the pain of birthing their babies, they love, value and appreciate that child and give that child the uttermost love, care, attention and protection. For any woman to birth a baby she must conceive, she must take in, she must be pregnant. When it is time for her to bring forth her baby, pain tells her it is time. Labour pangs tell her it's time to birth her baby. If she focuses on the effect of the pain and ignores the message of the painshe could lose the child or even her own life.Ladies and gentlemen, all humans have the capacity to bring forth. We are designed by God to be fruitful, we are expected to multiply, we are wired to replenish. All of us by nature can conceive, all of us by design can bring forth. As humans especially Africans, we pay too much attention to bringing forth our physical children and we forget that all of us could get mentally pregnant. Many years ago, through what you saw and heard in life, you conceived something in your mind; you became pregnant with a dream.  You conceived and began to carry that dream, and you daily nurtured the dream and the dream began to grow day by day in your mental womb.Unfortunately, due to social distractions and easier choices, many of us forgot all about our pregnant minds; our mental babies. Though we occasionally remember, we tend to relegate it based on seeming survival priorities. It's called social and financial security.Dear friend, are you currently going through so much pain in life? Are you suffering severely in your finances, your career, your business, your wellbeing andyour quality of life? Your biggest error is to see the pain as just pain forgetting every pain carries a message. If today you're going through hard times and things are perhaps very difficult, this pain perhaps, is your labour pain, it's timefor you to bring forth your brain child. Through pain you bring forth your womb child and through pain you bring forth your brain child. The only solution to physical labour pain is to deliver the child in the womb. The only solution to mental labour pain is to bring forth the child in the brain – your brain child. If you don't, the child would die and you may lose your mental womb and may never be able to conceive again mentally. The pain of job loss, the pain of rising prices, the pain of rising bills, the pain of salary cut, the pain of salaries owed, the pain of scarcity, the pain of not being ableto make ends meet and the pain of economic hardship constitute your mental labour pain telling you it's time to bring forth your brain child. What is that great idea you have? Isn't it time you acted on it?Dear friend, it's time to build a life independent of your socio economic environment. Its time you build a life where you determine your own income. Its time you embrace a scope where you earn income beyond the shores of your country. Its time you become unlimited by your immediate environment. Your dream is your brain child. Your ideas are the children in your mental womb. Let this pain push you to bring forth that dream and ideas conceived long ago. Don't let them die, bring them forth now. Dear friend, pain is common to all, endureyour own pain as the price for success in birthing your dreams and ideas and not the punishment for failure and indifference in life. The labour pains are real and here, come on bring forth your brain child.

Justin Bieber deletes Instagram account after committing online hara-kiri

In the 1970s, an angry, maligned rock star would throw his television out of his hotel window, but Justin Bieber has gone for the millennial-style nuclear option — deleting his Instagram account. The baby-faced Canadian musician, 22, committed online hara-kiri after becoming upset by a barrage of negative comments about his new friendship with Sofia Richie. LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 03: Singer Justin Bieber performs onstage during KIIS FM’s 2012 Jingle Ball at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on December 3, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. /AFP The pair have been pictured stepping out together several times in recent weeks, amid a frenzy of rumors linking them romantically. Reacting to insults posted by fans alongside pictures of the 17-year-old model — singer Lionel Richie’s daughter — Bieber told his 77 million followers: “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. “This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.” But the millionaire singer appears to have gone a step further, as clicking on links to his Instagram page now yields an error message. Fellow singer Selena Gomez, Bieber’s former girlfriend, took the opportunity to twist the knife before the account was deleted. “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only,” the 24-year-old posted. “Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.” “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love,” Bieber countered. “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love,” Gomez retaliated. Bieber is the latest in a series of celebrities dealing with abuse on social media by closing their accounts. Actress and comedian Leslie Jones quit Twitter temporarily in June — devastated by a torrent of racist and sexist abuse aimed at her by trolls. Bieber recently shut his Snapchat account too, and announced in May that he would no longer be taking pictures with fans in public. “It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human,” he wrote on Instagram. “I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity.” Bieber and Gomez dated for almost two years from January 2011, but spilt up citing busy schedules. Some fans interpreted “Sorry,” from Bieber’s album “Purpose,” which came out in November last year, as a message from the former child star to Gomez. Bieber has had a string of legal run-ins for incidents including throwing eggs at a neighbor’s house, driving under the influence of alcohol without a license and allegedly assaulting a photographer

MADNESS, TRADER ARRESTED FOR NAMING DOG AFTER BUHARI

A 30-year-old trader has been arrested by the police in Ogun state for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari.’ The trader, Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, of No 10, Omikunle Street, Sango-Ota, Ogun State, was reportedly arrested last weekend, after one of his neighbours of Northern extraction complained bitterly that he named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari. Vanguard learned that the complainant reported the case at Sango Police Station, last Saturday, after which the trader was arrested and detained. However, it was gathered that efforts by the police to recover the dog, which they intended using as evidence failed following a clever move by the suspect. The trader, said to be trading in female wears at a popular market in Sango, allegedly directed his friends secretly to kill the dog and possibly eat the meat in order to avoid being implicated. It was gathered that consistent appeals by his friends and relations for the police to grant him bail failed as the complainant and his kinsmen reportedly threatened to kill the trader if he was released on bail. Trader denied bail The case, however, took a different dimension two days later when Chinakwe’s relatives went to Sango police station to further plead for his bail only to be informed that the case file and the suspect have been transferred to Ogun State Police Command headquarters at Eleweran. A relation to the suspect, who simply identified himself as Chiedozie, told Vanguard that his brother was being persecuted for no just cause and expressed fears that he may either be poisoned inside police cell or thrown into jail. Chiedozie said: “Chinakwe is a lover of dogs and he names them after things that tickle him. He bought this dog a year ago and named it Buhari.  Unfortunately, some Northerners, who dominate the vicinity where he resides misconstrued his intention and connived to take him up. The complainant then claimed it was derogatory because his father answers Buhari.” Police sources, however, told Vanguard that the actions of the suspect “were very provocative.” The source said: “he not only named the dog Buhari but boldly wrote it on the body of both sides of the dog and was seen parading the neighbourhood dominated by Northerners with it.” As at press time, relations to the suspect were still making frantic efforts to effect his bail while his accusers are insisting that he must be prosecuted. Police confirms arrest When contacted around 8pm yesterday, the acting Police spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, ASP, said he was still trying to get the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Sango for details. Oyeyemi later called, stating that: “I have made enquiries. The man bought a dog and inscribed Buhari on both sides of its body. One Mallam lodged a complaint and when our men got there, we found out that it was true. You know such thing can cause serious breach of the peace and ethnic or religious unrest. We are charging him to court for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.” Continuing, he said: “He was arrested last Saturday and we are taking him to court later today (Tuesday) or tomorrow morning (today). You know an average Northerner will feel bad over such a thing. It can cause serious ethnic crisis or religious confrontation because when you are relegating such a name to a certain person, you are indirectly insulting him.” When asked about the whereabouts of the dog that will be used as evidence against the suspect, the police spokesman said: “The dog cannot follow anybody except the owner. We will use him as our evidence because he did not deny it.”

Brock Lesnar defeats Mark Hunt via unanimous decision in UFC return

play
Former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar sheds light on his comeback fight with Mark Hunt and his future career in the Octagon. (0:58)
Nearly five years removed from his last bout, Lesnar (6-3), a former UFC heavyweight champion, made a successful return to the Octagon on Saturday, defeating Mark Hunt via unanimous decision. The three-round fight co-headlined UFC 200 at T-Mobile Arena.
"Oh, man, it took me a little while to get acclimated," Lesnar said. "Words can't describe it. Thank you, everybody. Thanks so much."
Lesnar, 38, stuck to his strengths against Hunt, who was ranked No. 7 in the world by ESPN.com ahead of the weekend and fought for the interim UFC title in late 2014. The WWE star alternated between keeping a safe, long distance from Hunt and shooting takedowns.
When Lesnar was able to get Hunt down, which he did in the first and third rounds, it was smooth sailing. His massive size and wrestling ability looked as dominant as they ever were during his peak in mixed martial arts, when he won and defended the heavyweight title between 2008 and 2010.
All things considered, it was a relatively smooth return to the Octagon for Lesnar. Hunt did manage to land a few punches, but Lesnar was able to keep the pressure and keep Hunt on the mat.
"People don't realize, for a guy who only fought a few times in this sport, then goes away for as long as he has, his age and everything -- to come back and do what he did tonight is pretty impressive," UFC president Dana White said on SportsCenter after Saturday's card. "He's a freak of nature."
The UFC announced Lesnar's return to the Octagon in June, a little more than one month before UFC 200. He remains under contract with the WWE and is scheduled to appear at SummerSlam in August. Lesnar, who resides in Saskatchewan, Canada, declined to say whether he will fight in the UFC again.
"One day at a time," he said. "I'm so happy to be in here."
White said afterward that Saturday's fight was "a one-time deal" because of Lesnar's contract with the WWE, but added, "That doesn't mean we couldn't do something again in the future."

TRIGGER HAPPY POLICE SHOOT'S SELF AND ANOTHER IN NIGERIAN AIRPORT

The unknown security, who is reported to be an aide to a Nigerian senator, shot himself and another woman in the foot, while trying to dislodge a magazine from his gun.

MMIA play MMIA

Two persons were reportedly injured when a gun belonging to a security agent attached to a Nigerian senator accidentally fired shots of bullets.

This happened on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Sahara Reporters wrote.
According to an eyewitness, the security agent, who was expected to fly with Arik Air, was trying to remove the gun magazine based on aviation regulation when the incident happened.
The gun shots hit him and an unidentified woman on the leg, causing serious injuries.

"It is a standard practice in air travel for anyone with a gun to pull out the bullet",
"This is what the security man was trying to do but incidentally the gun released the magazine which splattered and hit him and the woman on the leg as he bent down to pull out the magazine from the gun", the witness said.
This however did not stop them from trekking out of the airport terminal, from which they were taken to the hospital.

Kylie Jenner is not getting married, despite sporting some curious new bling, E! News has learned exclusively.
The 18-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, who recently rekindled her relationship with Tyga, posted on her Instagram page Friday a photo of her wearing a large, sparking ring on her ring finger.
Kylie is not engaged, two sources told E! News. However, she has discussed marrying Tyga, 26, one of them said.

The on-again, off-again couple most recently split in May and reconciled last month. Kylie referred to Tyga as her "husband" in a Snapchat video and on Thursday, she posted a photo of the two with the caption, "Mr. and Mrs."
"Kylie has brought up marriage with Tyga to her friends lately, both jokingly and seriously," the source told E! News, adding that the two "have talked about it before too."
"It wouldn't happen now but she's been thinking about it more and wants a future with him," the source added.
The two are "doing really well again," the source added. "They are super in love! Every time they take time apart, they come back closer than ever. It's kind of a cycle for them but the break was good for them. It made them miss each other and appreciate each other more."
Kylie and Tyga have often sparked marriage rumors.  Last year, an insider told E! News Tyga "wants to marry Kylie eventually" and that the two "discussed it later down the line once Kylie gets a bit older."
In February, Tyga said in a radio interview that he and Kylie don't plan on marrying soon but added, "I love that girl."

Benue singer framed for murder released after SUNDAY PUNCH report

Gbenga Adeniji
The joy of the Edwards knew no bounds on June 30 as their son, John Edward, otherwise called Inas, who had been arraigned for murder and robbery, was released on bail.
He is from Adoka in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
SUNDAY PUNCH had exclusively reported on June 19 that the up-and-coming musician was framed for murder and robbery by the Benue State Police Command while he was trying to retrieve his BlackBerry Z30 phone seized by a policeman.
Investigations showed that the singer was arrested along the University of Agriculture Road in the North Bank area of Makurdi by police officers from Division C while he was returning home after a video shoot on the night of Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
After two days in police custody, he was granted bail after his family members and friends paid the sum of N20,000. But he was asked to return the next day, Saturday, to collect his phone because the officer, nicknamed ‘magistrate,’ who was in possession of the phone, was not in the station at the time.
It was gathered that on returning the next day, the policeman was said to have told Edward not to disturb him about the phone, threatening to re-arrest him if he did.
He allegedly joined him with two others who had earlier been arrested and charged them with culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.
One of the musician’s relative, Mrs. Patricia Mohammed, told SUNDAY PUNCH that Edward is the fourth in a family of eight.
She said, ‘‘I know my brother cannot commit the crimes he was accused of. Even the music he does, I am still surprised because he is a reserved person. He hardly talks. He listens more than he talks.’’
Also, the music producer and video director identified as Johnicks, who handled the said video shoot on the day Edward was arrested by the police, was glad about his release.
The 23-year-old singer, who spoke with our correspondent on Saturday, was full of joy.
He said, ‘‘I have yet to know why the policeman exchanged my freedom for a mere phone. I have never in my life committed a criminal act let murder or steal. I learnt a bitter lesson the hard way. I now pray harder and more closer to God. The prison opened my eyes to many things. I saw humiliation and maltreatment boldly.’’
Edward, who just graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi where he studied Zoology, hoped that that the case would eventually be dismissed by the court.
Earlier, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Police Command, Moses Yamu, has told SUNDAY PUNCH that the then Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, ordered the command to re-investigate the case when Edward’s friends and family members lodged a complaint through the Complaint Response Unit that he was wrongfully charged.

The Best Linux Distros of 2016

distro-opensuse2015 was a very important year for Linux, both in the enterprise as well as in the consumer space. As a Linux user since 2005, I can see that the operating system has come a long way in the past 10 years. And, 2016 is going to be even more exciting. In this article, I have picked some of the best distros that will shine in 2016.

Best Comeback Distro: openSUSE

SUSE, the company behind openSUSE, is the oldest Linux company; it was formed just a year after Linus Torvalds announced Linux. The company actually predates Linux king Red Hat. SUSE is also the sponsor of the community-based distro openSUSE.
In 2015, openSUSE teams decided to come closer to SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) so that users could have a distribution that shares its DNA with the enterprise server -- similar to CentOS and Ubuntu. Thus, openSUSE became openSUSE Leap, a distribution that’s directly based on SLE SP (service pack) 1.
The two distros will share the code base to benefit each other -- SUSE will take what’s good in openSUSE and vice versa. With this move, openSUSE is also ditching the regular release cycle, and a new version will be released in sync with SLE. That means each version will have a much longer life cycle.
As a result of this move, openSUSE has become a very important distribution because potential SLE users can now use openSUSE Leap. That’s not all, however; openSUSE also announced the release of Tumbleweed, a pure rolling-release version. So, now, users can use either the super-stable openSUSE Leap or the always up-to-date openSUSE Tumbleweed.
No other distro has made such an impressive comeback in my memory.

Most Customizable Distro: Arch Linux

Arch Linux is the best rolling-release distribution out there. Period. Ok, I could be biased because I am an Arch Linux user. However, the reason behind my claim is that Arch excels in many other areas, too, and that’s why I use it as my main operating system.
  • Arch Linux is a great distro for those who want to learn everything about Linux. Because you have to install everything manually, you learn all the bits and pieces of a Linux-based operating system.
  • Arch is the most customizable distribution. There is no “Arch” flavor of any DE. All you get is a foundation and you can build whatever distro want, on top of it. For good or for worse, unlike openSUSE or Ubuntu there is no extra patching or integration. You get what upstream developers created. Period.
  • Arch Linux is also one of the best rolling releases. It’s always updated. Users always run the latest packages, and they can also run pre-released software through unstable repositories.
  • Arch is also known for having excellent documentation. Arch Wiki is my to-go resource for everything Linux related.
  • What I like the most about Arch is that is offers almost every package and software that’s available for “any” Linux distribution, thanks to the Arch User Repository, aka AUR.

Best-Looking Distro: elementary OS

Different Linux distributions have different focus areas -- in most cases, these are technical differences. In many Linux distributions. the look and feel is an afterthought -- a side project at the mercy of the specific desktop environment.
elementary OS is trying to change all that. Here, design is at the forefront, and the reason is quite obvious. The distro is being developed by designers who have made their name in the Linux world by creating beautiful icons.
elementary OS is quite strict about the holistic look and feel. The developers have created their own components, including the desktop environment. Additionally, they choose only those applications that fit into the design paradigm. One can find heavy influence of Mac OS X on elementary OS.

Best Newcomer: Solus

Solus operating system has garnered quite a lot of attention lately. It’s a decent-looking operating system that has been created from scratch. It’s not a derivative of Debian or Ubuntu. It comes with the Budgie desktop environment, which was built from scratch but aims to integrate with Gnome. Solus has the same minimalistic approach as Google’s Chrome OS.
distro-solusI have not played with Solus much, but it does look promising. Solus is actually not a “new” OS. It has been around for a while in different forms and names. But the entire project was revived back in 2015 under this new name.

Best Cloud OS: Chrome OS

Chrome OS may not be your typical Linux-based distribution because it’s a browser-based operating system for online activities. However, because it’s based on Linux and its source code is available for anyone to compile, it’s an attractive OS. I use Chrome OS on a daily basis. It’s an excellent, maintenance-free, always updated OS for anyone using a computer purely for web-related activities. Chrome OS, along with Android, deserves all the credit for making Linux popular in the PC and mobile space.

Best Laptop OS: Ubuntu MATE

Most laptops don’t have very high-end hardware, and if you are running a really resource-intensive desktop environment then you won’t have much system resources or battery life at your disposal -- they will be used by the OS itself. That’s where I found Ubuntu MATE to be an excellent operating system. It’s lightweight, yet has all the bells and whistles needed for a pleasant experience. Thanks to its lightweight design, the majority of system resources are free for applications so you can still do some heavy work on it. I also found it to be a great distro on really low-end systems.

Best Distro for Old Hardware: Lubuntu

If you have an old laptop or PC sitting around, breathe new life into it with Lubuntu. Lubuntu uses LXDE, but the project has merged with Razor Qt to create LXQt. Although the latest release 15.04 is still using LXDE, the future versions will be using LXQt. Lubuntu is a decent operating system for old hardware.

Best Distro for IoT: Snappy Ubuntu Core

Snappy Ubuntu Core is the best Linux-based operating system out there for Internet of Things (IoT) and other such devices. The operating system holds great potential to turn almost everything around us into smart devices -- such as routers, coffeemakers, drones, etc. What makes it even more interesting is the way the software manages updates and offers containerization for added security.

Best Distro for Desktops: Linux Mint Cinnamon

Linux Mint Cinnamon is the best operating system for desktops and powerful laptops. I will go as far as calling it the Mac OS X of the Linux world. Honestly, I had not been a huge fan of Linux Mint for a long time because of unstable Cinnamon. But, as soon as the developers chose to use LTS as the base, the distro has become incredibly stable. Because the developers don’t have to spend much time worrying about keeping up with Ubuntu, they are now investing all of their time in making Cinnamon better.

Best Distro for Games: Steam OS

Gaming has been a weakness of desktop Linux. Many users dual-boot with Windows just to be able to play games. Valve Software is trying to change that. Valve is a game distributor that offers a client to run games on different platforms. And, Valve has now created their open operating system -- Steam OS -- to create a Linux-based gaming platform. By the end of 2015, partners started shipping Steam machines to the market.

Best Distro for Privacy: Tails

In this age of mass surveillance and tracking by marketers (anonymous tracking for targeted content is acceptable), privacy has become a major issue. If you are someone who needs to keep the government and marketing agencies out of your business, you need an operating system that’s created -- from the ground up -- with privacy in mind.
And, nothing beats Tails for this purpose. It’s a Debian-based distribution that offers privacy and anonymity by design. Tails is so good that, according to reports, the NSA considers it a major threat to their mission.

Best Distro for Multimedia Production: Ubuntu Studio

Multimedia production is one of the major weaknesses of Linux-based operating systems. All the professional-grade applications are available for either Windows or Mac OS X. There is no dearth of decent audio/video production software for Linux, but a multimedia production system needs more than just decent applications. It should use a lightweight desktop environment so that precious system resources -- such as CPU and RAM -- are used sparingly by the system itself, leaving them for the multimedia applications. And, the best Linux distribution for multimedia production is Ubuntu Studio. It uses Xfce and comes with a broad range of audio, video, and image editing applications.distro-ubuntu-studio

Best Enterprise Distro: SLE/RHEL

Enterprise customers don’t look for articles like these to choose a distribution to run on their servers. They already know where to go: It’s either Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise. These two names have become synonymous with enterprise servers. These companies are also pushing boundaries by innovating in this changing landscape where everything is containerized and becoming software defined.

Best Server OS: Debian/CentOS

If you are looking at running a server, but you can’t afford or don’t want to pay a subscription fee for RHEL or SLE, then there is nothing better than Debian or CentOS. These distributions are the gold standard when it comes to community-based servers. And, they are supported for a very long time, so you won’t have to worry about upgrading your system so often.

Best Mobile OS: Plasma Mobile

Although the Linux-based distribution Android is ruling the roost, many in the open source community, including me, still desire a distribution that offers traditional Linux desktop apps on mobile devices. At the same time, it’s better if the distro is run by a community instead of a company so that a user remains in the focus and not the company’s financial goals. And that’s where KDE’s Plasma Mobile brings some hope.
This Kubuntu-based distribution was launched in 2015. Because the KDE community is known for their adherence to standards and developing stuff in public, I am quite excited about the future of Plasma Mobile.

Best Distro for ARM Devices: Arch Linux ARM

With the success of Android, we are now surrounded by ARM-powered devices -- from Raspberry Pi to Chromebook and Nvidia Shield. The traditional distros written for Intel/AMD processors won’t run on these systems. Some distributions are aimed at ARM, but they are mostly for specific hardware only, such as Raspbian for Raspberry Pi. That’s where Arch Linux ARM (ALARM) shines. It’s a purely community-based distribution that’s based on Arch Linux. You can run it on Raspberry Pi, Chromebooks, Android devices, Nvidia Shield, and what not. What makes this distribution even more interesting is that, thanks to the Arch User Repository (AUR), you can install many applications than you may not get on other distributions.

Conclusion

I was astonished and amazed when I worked on this story. It’s very exciting to see that there is something for everyone in the Linux world. It doesn’t matter if the year of the desktop Linux never arrives. We are happy with our Linux moments!

NIGERIAN FATHER SELLS BABY FOR TWO 2 MILLION NAIRA

Controversy is brewing in Orhuwhorun community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State following the alleged sale of a day-old baby for N2million by her father, Happy Fashion, a member of vigilante group in Orhuwhorun.
The development was blown open by the mother of the new baby, Mrs. Abigal Happy when she discovered that her sixth baby which she gave birth to on Monday January 11, 20116 at about 5pm had been whisked away by her hubby.
Mrs. Abigail told close associate that her husband abandoned her before the delivery and claimed to be out of town, adding that when she informed him about the delivery of the baby, he became curious and suddenly showed up at home, warning her not to breastfeed the baby.
Reports said that it was the following day after Happy Fashion had returned home that he secretly hoodwinked his wife, promising to take care of the household. He later in connivance with his friend, Obakpororo allegedly carried the baby and put her in a black nylon bag, after which the child was transferred to another female friend who took the baby to a waiting jeep driven by unidentified man.
It was the couple’s eldest son that reportedly saw all that transpired, while, the baby’s mother was said to be sleeping during the episode. Another account stated that she was taking her bath when the baby was whisked away.
The suspect, Happy Fashion and two of his friends have been arrested and are at the Ovwian Aladja Police Station in Udu Local Government Area. The whereabouts of baby that was sold for N2million is still unknown as at the time of the report.
Effort to get comments from the DPO of Ovwian Aladja Police Station on the development via phone were futile as he declined comments, saying he could not respond to questions on the issue on phone but the police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestine Kalu confirmed that the investigation was ongoing.
